The BCMBR Home btn
Welcome to the Official Website of the BCMBR. The initials stand for The British Classic Motor Boat Rally which is held around the beginning of August each year at the Windermere Motor Boat Racing Club situated on the shores of Lake Windermere in The Lake District, Cumbria, England.

The BCMBR promotes and celebrates the use of classic motor boats by holding an annual rally where boats are displayed, used on the lake and judged. The rally was the first rally in the UK to specialise in these craft which held it's first rally in 1990 and is second in longevity to the Thames Traditional Boat Rally. The TTBR only accepts traditional wooden built boats including rowing boats and other craft whereas the BCMBR accepts a wide number of different types of motor boats including craft built in aluminium, plywood and fibreglass in addition to traditional wooden built craft.

Types of boats regularly seen at the annual rally includes makes such as Riva, ChrisCraft, Century, Poncelet, Albatross, Delta, Simmonds, Healey, Fairey, Broom, Dowty, Jetstar, Yarecraft as well as more unusual craft such as Windermere Launches and even steam launches, small open launches and an Amphicar!. Many boats are superb restored examples but boats still requiring restoration are also welcomed and celebrated.

The emphasis is on a friendly gathering enjoying the Lake, the club house / grounds and some splendid meals in superb surroundings. It is a unique prestigious event with no equal in the UK.
